In the third quarter of 2021, the top Food and Drink apps on the iOS platform in Europe exhibited diverse trends in weekly downloads and active users. Here’s a closer look at the performance of the top five apps, based on Sensor Tower data.

Uber Eats: Food Delivery saw a fluctuating but generally upward trend in weekly downloads. Starting at around 155K in the last week of June, downloads dipped to approximately 127K in mid-July, before climbing back up to nearly 170K by the end of September. The app’s weekly active users began the quarter at about 5.2M, experienced a decline to around 4.2M in mid-August, and then rose again to close the quarter at nearly 5M.

McDonald’s - Non-US experienced steady weekly downloads, starting at approximately 126K at the end of June and peaking at around 164K in early September, before tapering off to about 116K by the end of the quarter. The app’s active user count remained relatively stable, fluctuating around 1.6M to 1.8M throughout the quarter.

Too Good To Go: End Food Waste had a notable increase in weekly downloads towards the end of the quarter. Initial downloads were around 129K in late June, dipping to about 97K in early August, and then climbing back to approximately 136K by the end of September. Active users for the app showed a steady rise, starting at around 1.8M and reaching nearly 1.9M by the end of the quarter.

Deliveroo: Food & Shopping maintained a consistent download rate throughout Q3 2021. Weekly downloads hovered around 95K to 109K, with a slight peak in mid-September. The app’s active user base saw a gradual increase, beginning at about 2.2M in late June and growing to nearly 2.3M by the end of September.

McDonald’s U.K. demonstrated a significant rise in weekly downloads in August, peaking at approximately 179K. However, downloads declined towards the end of the quarter, reaching around 58K in the last week of September. The app’s weekly active users showed a downward trend, starting at around 467K in late June and decreasing to about 303K by the end of September.
